Website maintenance

You focus on your business. We’ll take care of your website.

Huh? Maintenance?

Yup, maintenance. Websites are built on an ever changing framework of code. As time goes on, the code that your site was built in gets updated – things like speeding up the code, or plugging security holes – they’re generally big parts of these code updates. So if you want your site to be secure, you really need to update it every time a new update is released (which happens every couple of days).

But then again, even without updating it – your site is live, people can see it, which means it’s all fine. Right?

Well, I hate to break it to you, sites that are out of date are at major risk of getting hacked. In fact, there are 30,000 new sites hacked every day! Leaving your site out of date is one of the quickest ways to become a victim of hacking or malware (which will make you look bad to anyone that ends up visiting your site).

That’s why we offer our website maintenance plans – you run your business, and we’ll take care of your website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions people have asked us before about our care plans.

Firstly, the updates that happen by the host are automated. There is zero consideration of your site plugins and themes, or whether the update could break anything. Plus, if something does break – you’re on your own.

Secondly, a care plan includes a whole lot more than some updates. Things like daily backups, security scanning, speed optimisation, uptime monitoring, reporting – this goes way beyond automated updates.

And of course, being on a care plan means you have access to get help when you need it.

Basic speed optimisation applies optimisation at the site level. It’s the kind of thing that could get a site that normally loads in 5 seconds, to load in 2-3 seconds.

Premium speed optimisation goes a lot further, applying stuff beyond the site itself, including things like a global content distribution network and really advanced image optimisation using Artificial Intelligence. It’s the kind of thing that could get a site that normally loads in 5 seconds, to load in under 1 second.

Small site changes include stuff like adding your blog post for you (but not writing them), changing images that you’ve found (but not finding them), changing the content on a page. Basically all the general stuff you’d do as part of having a website. Usually they’re tasks that take us about 30 minutes or so to process.

Major changes include things like adding new functionality or making large design changes. Think things like adding an online store, or a membership log in for clients, or completely changing the design. These are things that can take many hours, or sometimes days or even weeks. We need to quote you on that stuff.

We’re the ones doing it, we have a pretty decent idea of how long things generally take. And realistically, if you’re paying us to do all your small changes, you probably don’t know how long some of the more complicated stuff would take. So while I hate to pull rank, this is our area of expertise and we get the final say.

Just kidding!

We don’t lock people into anything. Any ongoing contract of ours is month by month. Our jobs are to make sure you’re getting a service that’s worth the investment you’re making into it.

If you decide you hate our faces and want to terminate, just give us 30 days notice so we can wind things up properly.

We don’t discount, but you’re more than welcome to go use any other service you’re comfortable with.

It’s a member only library of useful knowledge for business owners, that gets content added to it regularly.

There’s a few things we need to get sorted before doing something like this.

Firstly, if we built your website fairly recently, then it’s all fine. We do a quick review and then onboard you onto our systems.

If we didn’t build your site recently, we need to first do an in-depth review of your existing site to make sure there’s nothing there that could come back to bite us later. If your site does have some major issues or flaws, then we would need to get those issues fixed first.

We do charge for this review and any subsequent fixing required. The charge for the review can vary from $99 through to $250, depending on the type of site. The charge for fixing any issues really depends on the issues.

We will not take on a site that has major flaws and issues. We also will not provide a hosting only plan to any website we didn’t build.
